Early life Potter, one of four daughters, was born Monica Gregg Brokaw in Cleveland, Ohio, to an Irish American Catholic family. He portrayed the villain Carl Bruner in Ghost, Kendall Dobbs in Designing Women and the voice of the title character of the Disney animated Tarzan and Kingdom Hearts.
